How does an orchestra prepare for a concert? By hours and hours of practice, both individually and as a complete orchestra.
In the same way we “practice” individually by morning prayer, Bible study and living the Spirit filled life.
We then go to our “orchestra” (communities and churches) and notice that some of the instruments are out of tune, and out of rhythm.
It’s especially embarrassing when we are the one out of tune.
With God’s grace and love our music improves daily. EVERYONE needs to keep practicing.
Sometimes the orchestra plays beautifully!
In Heaven we will all play perfectly. In the meantime we “practice” our spiritual growth together.
PROVERBS 12:1, NIV
1 Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid.
HEBREWS 12:1, NIV
1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT
The Fruit of the Spirit is . . .
As you practice living out your faith, you will see God begin to develop each attribute listed in the Fruit of the Spirit.
How would you describe your progress in each of these characteristics?
“Jesus, You modeled these qualities perfectly. Help me to grow in each of these. May I see the community around me as your chosen instruments to help me in this pursuit. In Your Name I pray, Amen.”
