GETTING STARTED
Every new believer remembers the first time they shared their faith.
Often times they were trembling in fear, but they soon realized that God actually helped by giving them the words to say.
Just like anything else in life, a little practice goes a long way.
As you learn how to ask spiritual questions you will find that sharing your faith gets easier. The most important step is just getting started. God promises to be with you.
READ SCRIPTURE
MATTHEW 17:20, NIV
20 He replied, “Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
MATTHEW 14:25-33, NIV
25 During the fourth watch of the night Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake.
26 When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear.
27 But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”
28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”
29 “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.
30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”
31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”
32 And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down.
33 Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”
LIVE IT
Here are some examples of spiritual questions you may consider asking others. Write them down in your journal so that you can begin to ask them more often:
What is your spiritual background?
If God exists, what questions would you have for Him?
Where do you think we all came from? Is there a reason we are on this earth?
What has been your experience with religion or church? What kind of home were you raised in?
You will find that simple questions like these can open the door for you to share your faith in Jesus Christ.
PRAYER
“Lord, help me to get started in a lifetime of sharing my faith with others. I know that a big reason you have saved me is so that I would share your love and forgiveness with others. Help me to use these questions to initiate conversations this week! In Jesus name I pray, Amen.”
