SPIRIT VS. FLESH
There is a titanic struggle in the world between good and evil, and between the Spirit and flesh. In our flesh, we are born into the conflict of this world. We all make mistakes, sin and eventually, we will all die in our flesh.
However, God is perfect. God is Spirit. God is eternal. Jesus taught that we must be “born again.” He said, “flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to Spirit” JOHN 3:6. When we received Christ all of our sins of the flesh were forgiven. We were spiritually born, we were “born again.” We now live eternally in the Spirit. This truly is a miracle of God.
5 Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit.
6 So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.
JOHN 3:5-8, NIV
5 Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.
6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.
7 You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’
8 The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”
Romans 8:6 tells us, “letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.’”
Let the Holy Spirit control your mind so you can experience life and peace.
Imagine your mind being completely controlled by the Spirit. What do you think would be different about your life and thought patterns?
You can experience the Spirit’s control, and the changes that it brings day by day if you’ll give Him control.
“Lord Jesus, kill my sinful nature, take control of my mind. I want you, I want the life and peace your Spirit brings. Help me to really experience this new life in You. Amen.”
