Jesus said He was the light of the world. Then He said you are the light of the world. How can this be?

It is because Jesus lives in you and shines out through your unique personalities. You are like a stained-glass window in a church that reflects the light behind it. You are a window reflecting the light of Christ to the world.

You are the light of Jesus! Pray for others, talk about your faith at school, work and with your friends. You can lead a person to Christ by learning how to share your faith through the Four Spiritual Laws.

JOHN 8:12, NIV

12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord.

Live as children of light

MATTHEW 5:14-15, NIV

14 “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.

15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.

In your journal, list out all of the ways you can be a light for Jesus in your everyday life. For example you might consider responding to these kinds of questions:

Who am I most often in contact with?

How quickly will I engage a stranger in a conversation?

Do I really see the needs of other people around me?

How busy am I? Am I too busy?

“Father God, your word says, ‘For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.’ (Ephesians 2:10) Wow, Lord! You have already planned out ways for me to show the love of Jesus with others today. I believe this with all my heart and am anticipating opportunities to demonstrate your light today! In Jesus Name I pray, Amen.”
