BAD COMPANY

When you surrender your life to Christ you begin to walk in the light. You turn away from darkness.

Your friends and family see that you are now different. It is likely that some of your old “friends” are now mocking you and God. This happens because their eyes have not yet been opened to the light! If necessary move away from relationships that tempt you into sin.

The Bible tells us to not be surprised at this, but instead to rejoice in the suffering of Christ for He too was rejected.

READ SCRIPTURE

1 CORINTHIANS 15:33, NIV

33 Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.”

1 PETER 4:3-5, NIV

3 For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do-living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry.

4 They think it strange that you do not plunge with them into the same flood of dissipation, and they heap abuse on you.

5 But they will have to give account to him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.

In your journal write down 5 things that you believe hinder you from experiencing closeness with God.

Are there any relationships that you need to walk away from?

Are you living a moral life, do you need to make changes?

PRAYER

“Father God, your Word says, ‘For everything in the world—the cravings of sinful man, the lust of his eyes and the boasting of what he has and does—comes not from the Father but from the world.’ (1 John 2:16) Jesus, please help me avoid harmful situations and friendships that would lead me away from you. Thank you for being my best friend and living hope! I commit to moving away from the sinful behaviors and relationships in my life. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.”
