THE WORDS OF JESUS
In the Old Testament, God would speak directly through His prophets. They would then write the words down in scripture.
In the New Testament, the written Word of God became the living Word of God in the person of Jesus. “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” (John 1)
Today we get to hear those words recorded in scripture. They are the words of God. They lead to eternal life. The words of Jesus still stir the hearts of men and women today.
JOHN 6:68- 69, NIV
68 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.
69 We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God.”
JOHN 7:37-38, NIV
37 On the last and greatest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink.
38 Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.”
MATTHEW 4:4, NIV
4 Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.'”
As you’ve studied the Bible the last few months, what passages have “stirred your heart?”
Which of Jesus’ words do you think would have a profound impact on your friends, classmates, co-workers or family?
Would you be willing to share those with them and just say that “I thought this would mean a lot to you?”
“Lord Jesus, I want other people to be impacted by your words as much as I have. Help me to share them with those people that I know and care about.”
