INSTRUMENTS

You are unique, special and loved. God has given you gifts and talents to help strengthen others.

God’s people are like the unique instruments in an orchestra. Jesus is the conductor.

The Lord desires harmony, unity and reconciliation among His people and His “orchestra.”

Some members have bold and striking personalities like trumpets; some have the gifting of tender hearts like strings and flutes.

Some of God’s people have strong passions, like drums. Others are more gentle, building subtle foundations and accents.

Some are funny, some are serious.

We are God’s orchestra called to live and play God’s music together with one heart and mind.

All instruments are vital, equally loved and yet different and unique.

In God’s orchestra everyone has a unique gift and calling. Here there is no race, social class or superiority, all people are God’s people.

We play different instruments and yet we are one!

READ SCRIPTURE

ROMANS 12:6-9, NIV

6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith.

7 If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach;

8 if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.

9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.

EPHESIANS 4:2, NIV

2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.

2 SAMUEL 6:5, NIV

5 David and the whole house of Israel were celebrating with all their might before the LORD, with songs and with harps, lyres, tambourines, sistrums and cymbals.

LIVE IT

Begin to take a casual inventory of how God has created you.

Do you like meeting lots of new people or do you prefer smaller groups?

Do you love to share the hope of Jesus with others?

How could you see God using the painful experiences of your life to reach out and comfort others?

Be creative and ask yourself these questions. Write down your responses and consider how God may want to use you as His chosen instrument!

PRAYER

“God I praise you that every Christian has a unique role to play in this life! Your Word says, ‘We have different gifts, according to the grace given us.’ (Romans 12:6) Please show me what my role is as I reflect on how you have made me. I am excited to be used by you! In Jesus Name I pray, Amen”
