JOURNALING

When we need to remember something we usually write it down.

Keeping a journal, notebook or even making notes on your computer is a great way to see God’s activity in your life.

As you bring requests before God, consider writing these things in a journal. You can then reflect back upon what you have written and be reminded of how God is working in your life.

You will also see God answer your prayers. Sometimes the answer is “yes” other times it is “no” or “wait” but God always hears us and sympathizes with our suffering.

Your life is a beautiful story, write some of your adventures down on paper.

READ SCRIPTURE

II CORINTHIANS 4:13

13 It is written: “I believed; therefore I have spoken.” With that same spirit of faith we also believe and therefore speak.

II THESSALONIANS 3:17

17 I, Paul, write this greeting in my own hand, which is the distinguishing mark in all my letters. This is how I write.

PSALM 89:1-2, NIV

1 I will sing of the LORD’s great love forever;
with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations.

2 I will declare that your love stands firm forever,
that you established your faithfulness in heaven itself.

LIVE IT

If you have never kept a journal, choose to begin one today and commit to writing in it at least 3 times each week. Consider writing down:

– Prayers to God
– Answers to prayer
– Verses from the Bible that you want to remember
– How God is changing your life
– Your feelings about the faith journey that you are on
– Ways that you want to grow as a Christian

Over time, you will be able to look back and celebrate God’s activity in your life!

PRAYER

“Father God, you know how easily I forget. Help me to remember your faithfulness in my life as I write down details of the journey I am on with you. Empower me by your Holy Spirit to be faithful in this new discipline. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen.”
