LIKE A SOLDIER

Disciple makers are like soldiers. They train hard, are tough and disciplined.

Soldiers take orders from their commanders without hesitating. Soldiers are serious, focused, alert, they know when a battle is near, they are armed and ready.

Soldiers are skilled and they protect their fellow soldiers in battle.

Jesus is our commander; we are soldiers in God’s army, we protect and love others and do the work of God!

READ SCRIPTURE

2 TIMOTHY 2:1-4, NIV

1 You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

2 And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.

3 Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.

4 No one serving as a soldier gets involved in civilian affairs – he wants to please his commanding officer.

EPHESIANS 6:10-18, NIV

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.

11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.

12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,

15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.

16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

LIVE IT

Pray through Ephesians 6:10-18. There are powerful truths about putting on the armor of God in these verses!

PRAYER

“Father God, your word says to, “…be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” (Ephesians 6:10) Yes, God! Your power and might are mine through faith in Jesus Christ today. Will you arm me for the battle? I know this life gets hard and that the real war is in the spirit realm.

For this reason I put the belt of truth around my waist (verse 6:14), the breastplate of righteousness on my chest (verse 14), shoes of peace on my feet (verse 15) and above all the shield of faith to guard me from the fiery arrows of Satan (verse 16). I place upon my head the helmet of salvation and pick up the sword of the Spirit which is the Bible! (verse 17).

I seek to pray at all times in the Spirit as I watch and persevere in prayer for myself and others today. In your great power and for your glory Oh Lord I pray these things today, Amen”
