Suppose you look out your window one day and see your neighbor has taken a fall and is on the ground bleeding. If you represent the name of Jesus, you will certainly hurry out to help him.

A good witness for Jesus, doesn’t just observe his neighbor’s needs, he helps.

Loving people and caring for their needs is an important part of being a good witness.

The book of James shows us that “faith and deeds” work together, both are vital.

JAMES 2:14-18, NIV

14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them?

15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food.

16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?

17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

18 But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.”

As you read this lesson the Holy Spirit may have brought someone to mind that you can help. Do not ignore the Holy Spirit’s voice.

Ask Yourself:

How can I put my faith into action and bless this person today?

Even if I risk my reputation or comfort, how can I extend mercy and love to this person who I know is in great need?

Commit to walking by faith in Jesus THROUGH your actions!

“Lord, help me to step out in faith where I know you are leading me to today. I believe you want me to help _________________ see and experience your love. Give me boldness and a sense of urgency as I show this person your mercy and love today. In Jesus name I pray, Amen”
